Friends,
Am I the only Scrooge that sees a phone call or DM from a friend I haven’t spoken to in *literally* 10 years, and instantly raises an eyebrow in suspicion?! 🤣
Well, it finally happened to me… not one but TWO friends from my past reached out to me within the same week or so, one via voicemail and one via Facebook message… simply wanting to catch up out of nowhere.
Stick with me here… I know I sound like a cold-hearted spinster, but trust me, I’m not!
Something in my gut was just saying, “nahhh.” 🚩🚩🚩
Come to find out (through another friend who received the exact same calls & messages from both girls!), these ladies had joined a NW Marketing company and were actively reaching out to a bunch of us.
Even though it felt icky, and I virtually hid from both of them, I felt for them, deep in my soul.
I’ve wanted two things more than anything in life:
To help people. (Truly help them.)
To have freedom and flexibility. (That’s 2 things making 3 total, but shhh. 🤫)
But I vowed to myself to do whatever it took to never become “that person,” even if it meant growing my business more slowly than other business owners who are hustling their friends and family.
I’d rather be the girl that realized she can change lives while having total control over her destiny, and she can build it any way she wants. ✨
It just meant getting out of my comfort zone, out of my own dang head, and deciding to take an action. To do something different.
Friends, if you take one thing away from my story and thoughts today, I hope it’s that you can trust your gut, and do things your own way. And it will all be okay. (In fact, chances are FRIGGIN HIGH it will be better than you even imagined.) 💜
Your biggest cheerleader,
Dawn
Hey, Friends!
I have an awkward confession that might annoy some friends, but honestly, we’ve probably ALL thought this at some point, so here goes…
I thought my friends who joined network marketing companies were sweet and meant well, but I just knew they were getting scammed. 😫
I’d see all these posts about “working from home,” “creating my own schedule,” or “never missing a milestone with the kids,” and just think… “that’s cute, but constantly hitting up friends to give me money just doesn’t sound worth it for me.”
(I KNOW. Am I a terrible person, or just keeping it real?!)
Here is why I said no to this business at first:
I thought I’d be glued to my phone & social media all the time
I thought I’d have to reach out to friends, family members, coworkers, high school connections, ex-boyfriends, and the Amazon delivery person to tell them I’m selling something and ask them to buy it!
I’ll admit it, though… I DID want more freedom with my schedule (badly), and a little $$$ padding each month would have meant the world. So I followed along with their posts, but from a safe distance.
Don’t tell my boyfriend this, but I have NEVER BEEN HAPPIER TO BE SO WRONG. 🤣
If something works, I’m a fan. Next, if the company that makes it is one I have respect for and feel confident associating my name with… you bet I’m gonna share this with others who will feel the same way.
(Never once have I felt like I’m stuck on my phone, annoying anyone, or talking to someone I don’t want to be talking to!) 😂
I thought I’d share this little snippet of my experience, just in case you can relate with me and it’s the sign you’ve been looking for. 💕
Talk soon,
Dawn
