After 2 weeks of spring, I think it’s official… The sun gives me LIFE! Ya feel me?
I know since basically forever, January 1st is supposed to bring the whole “new year, new me” vibe, but what if we’ve got it all wrong? What if we made April the new January?
I mean, hear me out…
In January it’s still cold AF. We’re all still craving comfort food.
And the lack of sunshine is virtually working against our bodies to wanna do anything remotely active.
Spring is just one of those times of year that brings feelings of energy, new possibilities, and fresh starts. And I’m here for
it.

Buuuttttt… I can’t act like I’ve always had this motivation inside of me every spring. Like if we’re being totally honest, it used to be quite the opposite.
I used to be your typical January 1st goal setter, but by the end of every March I was nowhere close to reaching them. And I told myself if I couldn’t commit to a goal in January, when I have nowhere to go and plenty of free time, how in the helllll could I commit to starting something in April?
My schedule is busier and we’re going to more social gatherings where there’s plenty of food and drinks . It just never sounded like the right time to start a health and fitness journey.
But I was missing the whole point of 1 word… Journey.
I was so consumed by setting a start and end date on my health and wellness goals it’s like I became too afraid to start anymore.
What if I fail like I did in January? What if I really can’t do it?
Trust me, this is exactly how I felt. And if you’re feeling the same way AT ALL, I want you to join my Accountability group. I have over 100 women in there who’ve felt the exact same way at different times in their lives - scared to fail!
But now? They’re scared to QUIT. Scared to ever stop feeling as good as they do now. And that’s just one of the many beautiful things that happens when you start living your healthiest, happiest life.
Happy January 1st, I mean… April!
Dawn
P.S. Not only do I love the extra sunshine that comes with spring, but allllll the delicious veggies that are in season too! Here’s one of my favorite springtime recipes you’ve gotta try by Taste of Home - Kale & Bacon Salad with Honey Horseradish Vinaigrette! Let me know if you try it!
